General mobile rankings will not be affected by Google’s speed update
No ranking in mobile search has been affected by Google speed Update Algorithm which rolled out on July 9.
We have come to this conclusion that there is no change in ranking, only after having a look at the SEO Power Suite employees research conducted on this with 1 million pages of search results. The test was conducted back in April, before the Speed Update, andran the test results a week even for many slow pages, a week after the Speed Update was released.
Based on the Google Page Speed Insights tool speed of each page is graded, which provides a median FCP, optimization score, and median DCL. To measure the load time of a page First Contentful Paint (FCL) and DOM Content Loaded (DCL) are the metrics.
No proportionality is between the median FCP/DCL metricand the mobile Search Engine Result Pages position is the conclusion acquired after comparing the metrics with before and after the update. 0.030 seconds and 0.028 seconds is the average growth of FCP and DCL respectively.
Google will never tell you that its algorithm will affect your page which is so slow. So, webmasters must look at both the metrics.
The mobile Search Engine Result Pages is not directly proportional to the average Optimization Score, as average optimization score remains extremely high with 0.97 that means 0.83 points is increased by average score. Which means that good site and great site standards are going to vary” says Aleh Barysevich, Founder, and CMO, SEO Power Suite.
The test on this will resume in the coming days to find whether this results remain the same or changes. The SEO Power Suite team wrote that till now there is hardly been any impact on search results after the Page Speed Update.
